Literary Techniques
Shakespeare uses many different techniques when writing. He likes to use alot of detail and lots of similies and metaphores. This makes his stories intriguing. Also he leaves the stories in play form when they are published into books. This gives his books a unique sense of style.
Genre
the genre of the story Hamlet is revenge tradgedy. this was a popular genre in the time this book was written. i know this is a revenge tradgedy because.
-there are ghosts that revisit relatives.
-the HERO wants revenge
-there is madness and insanity
these are just a few characteriistics of a revenge tradgedy. And this is how i know Hamlet is a revenge tradgedy.
Theme
the theme of hamlet is revenge is not always the right thing to do. in the story hamlet gets a visit from his fathers ghost telling him to get revenge on claudius. hamlet does not know whether to trust the ghost, he didnt know if it really was his father at first. towards the middle of the story hamlet finally realized it was his father and decide that he was going to get revenge. he ended up killing claudius, but in the end his mother also died and leartes died, as did he. this shows that even though you want to get back at someone it may not always be the right thing to do.
