Shakespeare's parents were Mary Arden and John Shakespeare. Mary Arden was born into a wealthy family because her father, Robert Arden owned a sixty acre farm. John Shakespeare had moved to Stratford from Snitterfield as a glover and tanner of leathers. John owned three houses two on Henley Street and one on Greenhill Street. This makes the place of Shakespeare's birth unknown. John married Mary Arden eight years before Shakespeare was born. Shakespeares abilities are far more impressive when one finds out that neither of Shakespeare's parent could write. Because they could not write, they used symbols for their signatures. John used a glovers compass and Mary used a running horse.

This led to three of the headmasters to step down from their positions because of the religious effect of the school being renamed. Shakespeare was pulled out of school around age thirteen due to his fathers’ financial issues. After he was pulled out of school he had no further formal education, so Shakespeare just had to keep practicing what he had learned from Stratford. Also after being pulled out of school he worked for a butcher and helped his father run his leather business.
